Find the Menu
Once you've logged in, visit a gallery and look for the Tools button at the top.
The menu will have four sections: This Photo, Many Photos, This Gallery, My Account.
This Photo
Crop
Keep only the best parts of the photo and crop out the rest. More info.
Make a Copy
Click this and you'll get a new image in this gallery. It will be identical in every way to the image you copied, but will have a different SmugMug imageID. This tool is useful for keeping a color photo and making a black and white of the same photo using the Apply Color Effect tool.
Delete
It does just what it says it does. Use with caution!
Replace
Click this to be taken to a page where you can add a photo to replace the one you had. The newly added photo will keep the same SmugMug imageID so any links you have to the old photo will now link to the new photo instead. If you need to touch-up a photo, this allows you to neatly replace the old with the new.
Edit with picnik.com
This neat integration lets you edit your photo to remove red eye, adjust contrast, add text, and plenty more. You'll have the option to replace the current photo or create a new, adjusted photo.
Apply Color Effect
See how this photo would look in sepia, black and white, or after a trip to SmugMug's tanning salon. More info.
Make into Watermark
A Pro-only tool that allows Professional subscribers to make this image into a custom watermark for advanced image-protection. More info.
You won't see this tool if you are a Power or Standard user.
Edit Geography

Attach Related Files
If you are fortunate enough to have a SmugVault, this tool allows you to upload additional files to bundle with the selected file. For example, if the selected file is a JPEG image, you can bundle a RAW file and PSD file (or any files you'd like) with it.
Feature
Make this photo the representative thumbnail for this gallery. More info.
This is Me! (Bio Photo)
This photo will become your bio photo, and gets its own special spot on your SmugMug homepage. More info.

Rotate
Delete
Arrange Photos
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move thumbnails around.
Drag to Arrange
This generates a page of thumbnails so you can quickly arrange photos. This can also be accomplished on any gallery page by checking the arrange mode box.
Arrange by Number
Specify which numerical position you'd like each photo in.
Sort
This is a zippy way of sorting photos within the gallery. Sort by Filename, Caption, or Date & Time uploaded, taken, or digitized. This is a one-time sort, so you can still move photos around afterwards. If you'd like dynamic sorting that constantly keeps photos in a particular order, choose auto sorting in Customize Gallery.
Watermarking
A Pro-only tool that allows Professional subscribers to protect their images with a watermark. More info.
You won't see this tool if you are a Power or Standard user.
Apply Color Effect
This tool lets you cut to the chase and apply a color effect to more than one photo (no preview).
Adjust Thumbnails
Click to select photos then choose to make their thumbnails Square or to revert back to their Original thumbnails.
You can change the entire gallery's thumbnails at once in your Customize Gallery settings.
Make SmugMungous Sizes
SmugMungous = bigger display sizes. XLarge, X2Large, and X3Large so your admirers can see the photos big and beautiful.
These sizes are new, so older photos won't have them until you use the SmugMungous photo tool. Select the thumbs, and we'll SmugMungify 'em.
Bulk tool tips
These tips are for the "Many Photos" tools, above.
- Hover your mouse over a thumbnail and you'll see a blue "info" icon. Move your mouse over that icon to get an overlay with the photo's filename, caption and a larger view of the photo.
- There are actually four different ways to select photos on these pages.
- Click the Select All and Deselect All buttons at the top of the tool page.
- Click on each photo individually. Selected photos will be highlighted in red.
- If you want to select several photos in a row, click the first one and then hold down the Shift key on your keyboard as you click the last photo in the group. The first and last photos and all photos in between will be selected in red.
- Click your mouse and hold the button down as you drag a box around the photos you'd like to select. Release the button and the photos in the box will be highlighted in red.
