Milo The Boy in Your TVWritten By Francis M. NuthallIf you haven't had the opportunity to read up on Xbox Natal Milo, now is a great time. The Natal Project Milo is a piece of advanced technology that allows a gaming console to use motion as opposed to you pressing all those buttons. If you want to play, but can't remember what each button does, Xbox Natal Milo will be right up your alley. The main feature is being able to recognize voice commands and change the video game industry forever.
Who is Milo? This is just a little 8-year old kid who lives in your Xbox. It's going to be about as realistic as it gets and is basically like having a virtual pet. You know, the ones we used to carry around in our pockets way back in the day? Well, even if you don't remember those, it's important to understand that this is just much more advanced than anything we've seen. Xbox Natal Milo prides itself on the voice recognition capabilities. In recent demos case studies were given to figure out how much this little boy in your box knew. It all started by asking them for their name, then the Xbox Natal Milo repeating it back. Most importantly there wasn't any audio glitches along the way. This is a huge finding, considering most computerized responses have a shift in the voice audio. Basically it sounds different. When in game mode, if you want to touch the water it will actually make a ripple. If you hit it harder it will make a splash. Crazy right? It's basically a tribute to the way our technology is reshaping everything around us, including gaming consoles. Heck, you can even catch something that Milo throws at you. There are so many different instances we can't name them all, but you'll find that the Xbox Natal Milo project is a step in the right direction. You will also be able to converse with Milo, meaning that someday this could be present in other role playing games. Can you imagine playing something like Mass Effect with this sort of voice recognition system? A huge part of RPG's has been trying to convince NPC's in game of your intentions, and now your actual tone of voice might have something to do with your game progression. Who knows what the future holds, but hopefully in the future Natal Project Milo will not only be able to hold conversations, but actually remember what was said to him. Granted, this isn't going to replace actual friendship and all the emotions that go into it, but it will provide more entertainment nonetheless. What it comes down to is this is just a fantastic piece of technology. If these types of innovations intrigue you, then you will want to pay close attention to what is happening in the near future. There isn't a release date yet, but most of this is due to the hopes of releasing Natal Project Milo at the same time. Until this obstacle is solved, we can only wait for Xbox Natal Milo to hit the market. Francis M.
